Improved Siri

Last year, iOS received a major redesign with Liquid Glass. But another big change is expected this year – Siri may be getting a makeover.

Earlier this year, Bloomberg reported that Apple is testing a standalone Siri app. The rumored replacement for Siri could mean an “Ask Siri” button and a a standalone app for Siri it can make the voice assistant more prominent in Apple devices. Siri can also be Apple’s AI chatbot (which is powered by Google Gemini). If that’s true, Apple’s popular voice assistant could be even more powerful with AI productivity features throughout iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27.

Siri aside, we can also see an update on the camera Visual Intelligence AI-powered features for photo and video modes.

MacOS 27

Some of the highly anticipated features we’ll see in iOS 27 can also be found in MacOS 27 — like the standalone Siri app and built-in Apple Intelligence features. But since MacOS Tahoe is the last application to support Intel Macs, we can get a glimpse of what changes we can expect now that Apple Silicon microchips will be needed for the update.

iPadOS 27

There’s not much to say about iPadOS 27 right now. We will have to see what new features come with the rumored iPadOS 27. Last year, Apple announced Features of iPadOS 26including a new apps menu bar, Liquid Glass redesign and Apple Intelligence features like live translation, text summaries and Image Playground updates via ChatGPT. If we see updates to Apple Intelligence and Siri in iOS 27, we hope they will be available in iPadOS 27.

WatchOS 27

Apple didn’t share anything new WatchOS 27 will focus more on features or beauty. The new WatchOS could be a smaller version of the Watch Ultra face, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Instead, the watch face can be simple, like a large watch with three options for complications. But we will have to wait and see. Although WatchOS 27 may be coming soon, WatchOS 26.5 will be the new Pride Luminance watch face and the corresponding band for the month of Pride in June.

VisionOS 27

We likely won’t see new Vision Pro hardware until 2028, according to Gurman. Original Apple headsets — the Apple Vision Pro (M2) and (M5) are currently available.

Apple has announced a new accessibility features with its hardware, including the Apple Vision Pro only, at a press release in May. Apple Vision Pro will be able to control compatible wheelchairs using your eyes later this year. Speech recognition on the device for producing subtitles will also be available on Apple devices, including Apple Vision Pro. The headset will allow facial gestures for actions and selection of objects with your eyes. And if you’re using Apple Vision Pro as a passenger in a car, the headset’s Vehicle Motion Cues can reduce motion sickness, Apple says.

Plans for Apple’s first foldable phone

It’s unlikely we’ll see Apple’s rumored first foldable phone at WWDC, but we can see features of iOS 27 that point to the possibility of one. There are a lot of rumors floating around about what we can expect, if at all.

Reports say that the phone could be called iPhone Ultra, iPhone Flip or iPhone Fold. Apple’s foldable phone design leak resembles a wide book style similar to Google’s original Pixel Fold. The battery can have a capacity of 5,500-mAh, better than iPhone 17 Pro Max. Leakers predict a September launch and a price between $2,000 and $2,500.

While a foldable iPhone has been rumored since 2021, we will have to see if Apple offers any official hints for this year’s WWDC. If any of the new updates in iOS 27 happen to include some of the many features now available on the iPad, that would be as strong an indication as any foldable iPhone with a tablet-like display could be on the way.
