Interview with the Vampire is back with Season 3, titled Vampire Lestat in honor of the second book in Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. As Lestat, Sam Reid goes from being an antagonist and supporting player in previous seasons to becoming the star anti-hero this season. His titular novel reveals his vampire past, and his current desire to become a rock star, singing the secrets of his kind – whether they like it or not.
To follow Vampire Lestat: One Night Only – LIVE, The Season 3 premiere offers the episode “Detroit,” named after the city where most of its action takes place. But before the show gets to Lestat or his journey of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll, it begins with a curious auction.
Most exposures are dropped in very short order. So, let’s dig into it with a beat.

The exact time is unclear. But based on the auctioneer, we can imagine after 2025, when the band The Vampire Lestat – led by the vampire Lestat – toured and recorded an album, which is currently on the auction site.
As Interview with the Vampire set in 2022, this opening scene takes place years before we last saw Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Lestat. And it looks like the time in between has taken a toll on Louis, who is sporting a cane as he limps through the auction. Her ex Armand (Assad Zaman) wears an eye patch, with scars coming out from behind it. There is no sign of Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) or Lestat, but Raglan James (Justin Kirk) from Talamasca is present.
Since the critics were given episodes one through six, I can tell you with confidence that this opening takes place after the events of all those episodes. About episode 7? I couldn’t tell.

In this secret auction set up in the air supply area, the auctioneer starts by presenting the first lot.

“Part 1 of 2: ‘The Complete Works of Vampire Lestat de Lioncourt,’ featuring his 2025 self-titled album ‘The Vampire Lestat,’ additional session tracks were dropped from the album’s final mix, original handwritten scores, and secret recordings by Vampire Lestat himself, including a song cycle in the classical vein set to the poems of Baudelaire. Before we start applying, I do the following.”
To the shock of the joint auctioneers, the auctioneer then set another auction on fire. While the others mutter and walk away, Louis smiles to himself. The lot was burned to ashes and sold to a woman for one yuan, suggesting that the auction took place in China.
The salesman then continues:
“Number two, a music box tuned by Vampire Lestat. A sideboard by Ferdinando Meccani Corinto from 1978. Inside a Rossner and Sohn MOTT Turntable with BeoLab 20 speakers. Two temperature-controlled wine cabinets, one holding a bottle of Niepoort 1863 wine, the other a magnum of cular blood, the cular pressing itself. of ‘The Complete Works of the Vampire Lestat de Lioncourt,’ previously described, and 111 audio albums are best described as an omniscient history of the events of the 2025 album, its supporting tour, and the successive world disasters from said album and tour, as narrated by the Vampire Lestaluteres himself’ We will start bidding at 50 million yuan.”

There are clues in this scene, the first of which is the narrative that begins right after the auctioneer’s speech.
Louis, Armand, and Raglan bid furiously for second place. But we don’t see who will win. Instead, over the bidding, we hear a soft record, as if an unknown winner is playing an original vinyl record.
Lestat’s voice is heard: “If you are hearing this now, you must be a very privileged person. You could have fed a small nation for years while we paved the rubble. Instead, you bought my box. I love you already.”
This reference to debris and the salesman’s talk of “global disasters” suggest that Lestat is on record. They don’t fail after a terrible tragedy. What is the disaster? However, Lestat in this account says, “I’m not saying that trying to eradicate the Y chromosome from all continents was my fault. No, that would suggest a level of self-importance that I’m not even sure about. But when I think about it – yes, I made a contribution.”
Lestat refers to the attempted genocide, which fans of the Anne Rice novels would assume was carried out by Akasha. The vampire queen alluded to in her Season 2 success has been added to the company this season, played by Sheila Atim. But like Lestat, I’m on top of things.

Season 3 of Interview with the Vampire will be told in the media. It’s like a classic film noir Sunset Boulevardfocusing on the quality of a high-paying writer flirting with a silent film star, Vampire Lestat it starts with the anti-hero explaining how we got to this bad place.
Is Lestat dead? It’s impossible. However, since this opening, it seems that there have been global disasters that have caused many deaths, especially for those with the Y chromosome. And while some of the regular vamps, like Armand and Louis, survived, they still carry scars. As for Daniel and Lestat, we’ll have to watch and find out.
How to view: Vampire Lestat premieres on AMC and AMC+ on June 7, with new episodes every Sunday.
