Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders began on Thursday, with many people likely eager to spend up to $100 on the highly anticipated game ahead of its November release. But one big question remains: What happened to the online mode?
I GTA online part of Grand Theft Auto V has kept that 13-year-old game running for all three console generations, with recent leaks suggesting that Rockstar makes as much as $500 million annually from microtransactions alone. One would think it means that GTA VI will have the same online offering available at launch, but not yet. According to Rockstar’s statement provided to IGN, along with all the available marketing language for digital storefronts, GTA VI “single player experience.”

However, that doesn’t mean all hope is lost. It’s good to remember both of those GTA V again Red Dead Redemption 2 it was launched as a standalone experience and found its way online later, though it was only a matter of months in both cases. Since Rockstar hasn’t even said if there will be a new one GTA online experience for VIit’s probably safe to assume the wait will be long at this point.
The fact that it exists GTA online has been so successful (with no signs of slowing down) means that Rockstar isn’t really motivated to make a new one any time soon. It also means that Rockstar has to decide if it wants to keep the two separate GTA online experience running at the same time, should GTA VI let’s find one. As IGN noted, Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two currently supports two different NBA 2K Online games in the Asian market; the first was launched in 2012 and its follow-up in 2017, but both are still popular enough to coexist to this day.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a definite answer as to when we’ll get a new one GTA online It’s a mode tied to a new game, but hey, single player games aren’t that bad. I am sure there will be many hours of fun to be had GTA VI as is.
