Who was Jean-Luc Brunel?
Jean-Luc Brunel was a French modeling scout and founder of MC2 Model Management, an agency Jeffrey Epstein funded to the tune of $1 million. It is said that this name was an inside joke. In the equation E=MC2, E stands for Epstein.
Brunel used the organization to obtain work visas for young foreign women from Eastern Europe and Latin America, building a paper trail for legal employment while Epstein used the organization as a conduit. When Epstein was incarcerated in Florida in 2008, Brunel visited him nearly 70 times.
What was Jean-Luc Brunel accused of?
French authorities arrested Brunel at Paris airport in December 2020 as he tried to board a flight to Senegal. He was taken into custody before the trial and charged with rape, rape of a minor, and sexual abuse.
Ten women testified against him. Many said they were young during the events. They describe alcoholism, sexual abuse, and being brought to Epstein by Brunel from Eastern Europe and Latin America. Another explained that she was taken to luxurious places where men used their position and wealth as a means of control. Virginia Giuffre also says in her memoir that she was involved in child trafficking.
The investigation was closed in 2023 after Brunel was found hanged in his cell. He was not convicted. He did not testify.

In early 2016, Brunel was privately negotiating with lawyers representing Epstein’s victims. His lawyer told them that Brunel had photographs, had hired Epstein girls, and was willing to go to the US. Attorney’s office in New York. A date was planned. Then Epstein found out.
On May 3, 2016, Epstein emailed his attorney Kathy Ruemmler telling her that Brunel planned to go to the US Attorney’s office the following week. Within 24 hours, lawyers were on the phone. Soon after, Brunel fell completely silent. He did not cooperate with him. He did not provide photos. He didn’t say names.
Attorney David Boies, who represented Epstein’s victims, said he later pushed the case back two years. More than 50 more girls were sold after Brunel became silent. The Justice Department did not move on from Epstein until late 2018, after the Miami Herald pressed the issue.
Almost no one knew any of this when Brunel died in that prison. The public found out that it was there when the files were released in February 2026.
