The Whole Book of Revelation From Sarah J. Maas Calls Her Father’s Interview

Sarah J. Maas doesn’t do many interviews. So when he sat down with Alex Cooper He called Dadfans pay attention.
She gave birth. During this episode, Maas announced details about his new books and revealed new details about his existing body.
Throne of Glass
Why Maas didn’t care if anyone loved Aelin
One of the most quotable moments of the interview came when Maas explained his approach to writing Aelin. He said that he has never seen women as upset as he used to feel, and that he always felt pressured to be nice and beautiful. Aelin was his answer to that.
I didn’t disappoint*** if anyone who reads it likes it. This was him. Sorry. Who was he and take it or leave it.
He also described Aelin as coming full circle, “like Athena out of Zeus’s head,” and said she lets the character lead her rather than the other way around.
Why did Aelin have to lose her powers
Maas said that he is really struggling with this decision. She hated the idea of Aelin giving up something she had learned to love. But he felt that fate required it.
There needs to be a certain level of sacrifice when it comes to making such a big decision. That’s strong, and I don’t think the ending would have felt appropriate.
She also pushed back against criticism that making Aelin and Nesta lose their powers while the male characters kept theirs was a double standard.
Removing magic does not remove their power. That’s what Nesta and Aelin see. They are still unfortunate. Losing that doesn’t make you any less of a hero.
What happened to Manon
Maas put it simply: “He really should be in therapy. That’s where he is right now. He went through a lot.”
Where is Elide?
When asked where Elide is now, Maas said: “That’s actually something I think about a lot. A lot. And that’s all I’m going to say about that.” Fans will draw their own conclusions.
What does Lorcan do?
Maas wouldn’t answer directly, but hinted at future content. “Maybe bonus content, a Christmas present sometime for you all.”
Will we see the characters from Throne of Glass again?
His answer was blunt but encouraging. “I mean, obviously I think about them all the time, so who knows? If my kids let me go to bed at five in the morning, sure.”
Companion book to The World of Throne of Glass
This project is still something he wants to do, but it has been moved. “I thought it would be easy and then I realized that I need to devote more time to it. Maybe it comes at a different time.”
Court of Thorns and Flowers
Rhysand was not edited
This was one of the most surprising requests to be admitted to the interview. Maas revealed that Rhysand is not the character he planned. He arrived in the middle of the field, unannounced.
I didn’t plan for him. He entered that scene. I was writing this in real time. Suddenly he came out of the smoke and I was like, who the f*** is this?
He has been writing what he describes as a beautiful Beauty and the Beast romance between Feyre and Tamlin. Then Rhysand appeared in the fire and everything changed.
Why did she let the fans fall in love with Tamlin first
It was intentional. He wanted to show the reality of relationships, where you can fall for someone and slowly realize that they’re not who you thought they were, and that they don’t have the tools to handle what they’ve been through.
He doesn’t have the emotional toolkit to handle this and he’s tearing her down and dragging her down with him.
He added that he genuinely feels sorry for Tamlin, not to condone him, but because he sees him as a product of a deep upbringing.
In the case of the Tamlin tattoo
Maas was well aware that fans were getting Tamlin’s tattoos before Mist and Fury came out. Her response: “I was like, I’m so happy for you. And, I’m so sorry. I’m going to pay for the laser tattoo removal.”
Will Tamlin ever get a full redemption arc?
This is one of the most thought out answers in the entire interview. Maas said this is the most difficult question she faces right now, in part because of what Tamlin represents to survivors of abusive relationships in her life.
Some of my best friends are survivors of domestic abuse and often call their exes Tamlin. I have talked to him about how he might feel. If I were ever to write more about Tamlin, it would have to be done in a way that didn’t take away from what he did and didn’t hurt the feelings of the readers who connected to it.
He hasn’t released it yet. But he doesn’t commit either.
Why did Rhysand keep the pregnancy a secret from Feyre
Maas defended Rhysand here while admitting he made the wrong call.
He finds out that he has been sentenced to death but he is happy about it. How does one become that person who takes away happiness?
He went on to say that Rhysand is 500 years old and still learning. He had never been married before, never had a pregnant wife, and he was busy. He said that it is more fun to let him make a wrong decision out of love than to make him do the right thing politely.
A very romantic moment between Rhysand and Feyre
Without a doubt: Starfall. He said that this incident was inspired by Florence and Mshini’s “Cosmic Love”, and that every time he hears it he is taken back to the House of Spirit and that moment between them.
In Chapter 55
Maas confirmed that the published version of Chapter 55 is almost identical to the first draft. It came out of him. He said that it was an event that he had been waiting for a long time to write and when it came, it almost came out word by word which was finally written in the book.
Elain and the obligation to mate with Lucian
Maas was cautious here but there is more he wants to explore. He framed Elain’s situation with compassion, showing how much he had been through.
Imagine being transformed into a completely new body, a new way of life, and suddenly marrying a stranger who was involved in putting you in the pan. He has a lot to process.
He said the issue of the mating bond gives him an opportunity to explore questions of free will, whether nature gets it right, and what it means when it gets it wrong.
Morrigan’s power
When asked about Mor’s power, Maas confirmed the truth, but then held back. “He had other powers beyond that. There might be more to that.” That phrase, “there may be more,” reads like an outright taunt.
Starlight Lake in the Spring Court
Absolute deviation. “People are very educated, I don’t answer that.” Which is, of course, its kind of answer.
How do Fae enter the Wingless Spirit House
“This could be something you can find.” Filed under: guaranteed tease.
What is the King of Hybern’s real name?
“Frank” joked and then said: “Actually that might be something to discuss.” Do what you want.
Are Rhysand and Rowan related?
He would neither confirm nor deny. That non-answer will keep the theories going.
Is Maeve related to any of them?
Another full deviation, with a laugh. No answer was given.
In the story of Feyre’s pregnancy and where it came from
Maas was very open here, sharing that both of her pregnancies were painful. The fear, the loss of body control, the feeling of being at the mercy of programs and people you didn’t choose. It all went into how he wrote Feyre’s experience.
Fear, trauma, all of that. Writing that book allowed me to get it out of my system and process it.
In the scene of Nesta and the Silver Flames
Maas revealed that he wrote Silver Flames while undergoing treatment for severe anxiety and panic attacks that began around 2018. The scene of the ride where Nesta breaks down was taken directly from the real moment.
I came up with that scene where he and Cassian are riding and he just breaks down. I was the one at the bottom of the hike in New Zealand with Josh, I think the same thing. And as I kept walking I started to cry and then I saw Nesta and I saw this scene.
He explained the end of Silver Flames by saying that Nesta is incurable, not perfect, but a work in progress. “He was in a hole. I was in a hole. And we fought our way out of it together.”
Crescent City
Is Cormac really dead?
When Alex points out that we never saw the body, Maas is completely confused. No confirmation, no denial.
Bryce and Azriel’s theory
Maas was direct here. “No. It’s Bryce and Hunt.” Full stop. He apologized to anyone who had invested in Azriel’s vision.
How did the Book of Breath end up in Jesiba’s library?
“You will have to wait for answers.” So this series is not avoided.
Who or what is Fury Axtar?
He refused to confirm or deny anything. The fan theory that Fury is the mercenary Feyre met in the first ACOTAR book remains officially ignored, which the fandom will likely read as confirmation.
Why are there otters in the Crescent City?
This one had a simple answer. Otters are one of his favorite animals. He thought it would be nice to have them as messengers delivering letters with their little palms. There is no deep story. Just otters.
In His Wide World and Unpublished Work
He has 3 to 4 complete unpublished novels on his computer
This came out of nowhere when the Twilight of the Gods Pinterest board was removed. Maas confirmed that it’s a project he’s started but won’t release, adding:
I think I have maybe three or four full unpublished books of different series on my computer, I don’t know if they will ever see the light of day. Sometimes I just have a story in my head and I want to start writing it sometimes I want to share it with the world and sometimes I don’t.
There are no titles. There are no types. There are no details. Just know that all the worlds exist that we will never learn.
You have rights to return to all three series
Maas said this in the context of the Acatar TV/film adaptation, noting that reclaiming the rights to everything has been an important part of his recent journey. He said he would talk more about it another time but kept things short for now.
