Amazon Prime Day is June 23-26. Here’s Your No-Nonsense Guide to What to Expect

Amazon’s Prime Day sale is coming early this year and now we know exactly when. Amazon confirmed in a recent announcement that the sale will run from June 23 to June 26, leaving its July location for the first time in years.

Moving the event to June means the deals will arrive sooner, which is good news if you’re leaving the Big Spring Sale with an unfinished wish list. But it also leaves you less time to budget and less time for your competitors to plan any sales at once, as many have done in past Prime Day events. In its announcementAmazon said the Big Day in June will take place in 26 countries.

This story is part of Amazon Prime DayCNET’s guide to everything you need to know and how to get the best deals.

It will be the first time in a while that Amazon is holding its Prime Day event this early. In the past few years, Prime Day has come right after the Fourth of July sales. Competitors like Best Buy and Walmart often run competitive sales, so it’s possible that some major retailers will be crippled to get ready for the pre-June date. However, July is a great time to promote back-to-school gear, and the latest announcement isn’t exactly a sales pitch. But what exactly ends up on the shelves, and at what prices, remains to be seen.

Prime Day has been held in July since 2015. However, this wouldn’t be the first change we’ve seen. In 2020, it was pushed to October due to COVID-19; the following year, the event took place in June. In 2022, the retailer held events in July and October. In fact, the retailer extended the 48-hour sale to four full days last year, which means we could see a similar program rolled out this year, too.

While you don’t have to be a Prime member to shop during the sale, many of the best Prime Day deals have previously been exclusive to Prime members. If you have thought sign up for prime membershipthis may be the time. Prime membership is complimentary many benefits.
