‘Heated Rivalry’ soundtrack comes to vinyl and CD: Variants, price, release date

Viral bops from Hot Competition they finally get physical release. Billboard reports that the soundtrack album for Crave’s hit gay hockey show will drop this summer on CD and vinyl (in two different variants, no less).

Pre-orders open Thursday, March 26 through Milan Records, a Los Angeles-based record label. Fans can sign up for availability updates on their website. The price has not been announced.

The album includes 11 songs featured in the first season of Hot Competitionincluding Wet Leg’s “mangeout,” tATu’s “All the Things She Said,” and Harrison’s recent clubby cover. It also comes with a previously unreleased bonus track called “One Soul (Cottage Mix),” written by Peter Peter, the Canadian composer behind the show’s original score.

That full 34-track set will be available on CD, while the vinyl version has a selection of 18 tracks on it. Both formats will be sent with a double-sided poster and liner notes with Hot Competition show Jacob Tierney. The vinyl includes two additional trading cards and a double-sided disc sleeve printed with an image from the show, making it a true collector’s item.

Based on bestselling author Rachel Reid Game changers book series, Hot Competition follows the secret romance between Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie), two rival hockey players. The show debuted on HBO Max and Canadian streaming service Crave last November to resounding success, generating a passionate following and turning the leading men into overnight stars.

The second season Hot Competition will begin production in August, a month before Reid releases the seventh Game changers installment, It cannot be compared. It is now available for pre-order.

I Hot Competition The soundtrack CD has two printed discs with shirtless photos of Rozanov and Hollander. Vinyl comes in two varieties that are similar save for their distressing colors:

  • The “Montreal vs. Boston Edition” includes two-tone LPs pressed in red/blue and black/yellow, representing the game’s two main hockey teams.

  • The “Icy Inferno” variant has two distinct LPs.

CD and Montreal vs. Boston Edition vinyl will both be widely available at major retailers and indie record stores. The Icy Inferno vinyl variant will be sold exclusively through Milan Records and Sony Music Canada.

The listing will go live at 12:01 am ET on Thursday, but don’t bother setting your alarm. “Stock is not limited to pre-order, so no need to get up early or worry about missing out!” Milan Records says on the FAQ page. “There will be more options to buy during the pre-order launch.”

The CD and both vinyl versions are expected to begin shipping on July 10, the same day the album arrives digitally, per Billboard. Visit the Milan Records website to check out the full tracklist.
