Hilary Duff Emotionally Reveals Who Her New Song ‘We Don’t Talk’ Is Really About

Hilary Duff is officially back!
Today, he officially dropped his new album “Luck… Or Something,” his first collection of music since his 2015 album “Breathe In. Breathe Out.” And let’s just say it tackles a lot of mature themes that prove Hilary is no longer a Disney kid—she’s a full-fledged adult.
While the album deals with many problems in long-term romantic relationships and is not afraid to openly mention sexual acts (oh yes, and he to insult now), one song has people wondering what’s really going on: “We’re not talking.”
Fans have speculated that the song may be about Hilary’s relationship with her sister, Haylie Duff, who she co-starred with in “Material Girls” in 2006. These words seemed to point to Hayley:
“Because we come from the same home, the same blood”
Hilary confirmed that the rumors were true during an interview with CBS Mornings.
“It’s about my sister, and the loneliest thing in my life is not having a sister in my life right now,” she said. “I had a hard time thinking about putting that on the record, but it’s funny, as someone who’s in the world outside of my part, a lot of people get that.”
When asked why he ended up including this song on the album, he explained, “I think it’s because it’s my truth, and as I said, there are many people who experience this, and for me, recording will be about communication.
He went on to explain that it was difficult for him to write openly about his life without fan speculation, especially since he was young since he was young.
“Like I said, it’s hard because I’m me, and people know everything about my life since I was little, you know?” he said. “I didn’t choose that part. But it’s my truth so it was honestly healing to say. It’s hard to watch your life unfold on the internet sometimes, with the talking heads on TikTok speculating this or that and the other, and sometimes they’re wrong, and sometimes they’re right, and all of that is just… a crazy thing to process.”
Here are the full lyrics to the song “We Are Not Talking”:
I’m not sure when it happened
I don’t even know what it was about
If I did something different
Can you feel something different?
Can you at least let me hear it?
Because we come from the same home, the same blood
A different combination, but the same lock
People ask me how you are, I want to say amazing
But the truth is I don’t know
What I always say
How we don’t talk, we don’t talk, we talk about it
We don’t talk about anything anymore
We don’t talk, we don’t talk, we don’t talk about it
We don’t talk about anything anymore
Emotional displacement
There is no more emotional accumulation
And if it’s because you’re jealous
God knows I’ll sell it all, and break it for the most part
Because we come from the same home, the same blood
A different interpretation of the same thought
People ask me if I saw it
And in fact I hate it
Because the truth is that I need
But there is no way to convey it now if we don’t talk
We don’t talk, we talk about it
We don’t talk about anything anymore
We don’t talk, we don’t talk, we don’t talk about it
We don’t talk about anything anymore
Let’s get it out
I’ll hear you, you’ll hear me on the couch
Go back to the way we were as children
Break it down
So I’m sick of being so sad
How we don’t talk about it, and you won’t talk about it
We don’t talk, we don’t talk, we don’t talk about it
We don’t talk about anything anymore
We don’t talk, we don’t talk, we don’t talk about it (Don’t talk)
We don’t talk about anything anymore
