Design differences
There doesn’t seem to be too much difference with the expected design of the Galaxy Z Flip 8 overall. Recently leaked cases seem to point to a design very similar to its predecessor, with a system of two horizontal cameras integrated into the external display.
Design aside, there are many reports that indicate that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 has a slimmer, lighter design. Another leak revealed that it will weigh 180 grams, which is 8 grams more than its predecessor. Its profile is also said to be slim, measuring 13.2mm when folded and 6.6mm when unfolded. That’s a lot smaller than the Galaxy Z Flip 7 (6.5mm when unfolded and 13.7mm when folded) but it can make a difference in everyday use.
Tipster Lanzuk (via Android Central) also claims that the Flip 8 could have a “slim” design layout with an improved hinge that would reduce the visible crease in the large display. It may also be a bit wider, some reports suggest its dimensions to be 166.8×75.4×6.5mm.
Otherwise, other design features seem to be very similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 7. It is expected to have a 4.1-inch OLED cover display and a 6.9-inch OLED main display. Both are expected to have a maximum brightness of 2,600, HDR10 Plus support and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the cover display.
The cameras on the Z Flip 8 are also thought to be similar to the cameras on the Z Flip 7.
Camera
In terms of camera specifications, the features of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 look almost unchanged from the Galaxy Z Flip 7. It is expected to have a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 10-megapixel selfie camera on the front. It is also expected to support video recording up to 4K 60fps.
Battery, performance and specifications
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 may not see a battery upgrade over its predecessor. It is expected to have a 4,300-mAh battery and a 25W wired charging speed similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 7. There are rumors that it may have a 45W charging speed, but the availability of this does not seem particularly strong, as it seems to be against the inclusion of regulatory rules.
According to Samsung’s FCC filing, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to ship with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the US. However, in foreign countries, it is expected to be shipped with the Exynos 2600 chip, which is in line with the company’s dual-chip strategy in the past. The IZ Flip 8 is expected to have 12GB of RAM with storage options starting at 256GB.
