Kanye West was not invited to the wedding. His name still dominated security meetings, because the organizers were sure he might show up anyway.
Security at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s July wedding had a special plan for one person who wasn’t on the guest list, and it wasn’t for drones or paparazzi.
According to insiders who spoke to Naughty But Nice, West’s name came up several times during the meetings. She’s doing the day after the wedding at the Alamodome in San Antonio, and organizers are worried she might try to make an uninvited appearance at the Madison Square Garden celebration.
“It was really worrying,” said one insider. “The security forces had a plan in place if Kanye showed up, they weren’t taking advantage of the opportunities.”
The concern goes back to one of pop culture’s longest controversies, dating back to 2009 when West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. A brief reconciliation collapsed in 2016 with her song “Famous” and edited phone clips released by Kim Kardashian, fueling years of backlash from Swift before a full recording backed up her account.
The day passed without incident, and the emergency plan was not used.
