Biopics aren’t the only way to honor an artist’s music, and Craig Brewer’s (Hustle & Flow, Dolemite Is My Name) Blue Song it is living proof. Starring Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman as a married couple and a Neil Diamond cover band from Milwaukee. Mashable’s entertainment editor calls it “uplifting, heartbreaking, and amazing all at the same time.” And, yes, there are plenty of Diamond songs to enjoy throughout the film.

Blue Song and stars Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, Jayson Warner Smith, Hudson Hensley, Fisher Stevens, and Jim Belushi.

What Blue Song about?

Based on the amazing true story of lightning and thunder, Neil Diamond’s cover band, Blue Song follows Mike and Claire Sardina (Jackman and Hudson) as a married musical couple. “Together they create electrifying chemistry, rousing song numbers, and a love story about the power of an extreme car,” writes Mashable’s Kristy Puchko. Ultimately, it tells the story of how love and music can help us overcome grief and trauma. Bring the tissue.

Is it Blue Song is it worth watching?

If you’re a Neil Diamond fan, of course Blue Song it’s worth watching. If not, you’ll probably still like it. It currently has a strong 78 percent critic rating and a 97 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

“All of this makes for an interesting movie that can be surprisingly powerful, because bad moments can come out of nowhere. (C’est la vie!) But like a great Neil Diamond song, Blue Song it will find its way into your heart, where it will stay,” Puchko wrote in his review.
